New Site, New Horizons
Owner's Warwick and Jenny Hawker make the decision to relocate their residence and vineyard to the terraces of their estate, selling the original 4 hectare plot of pinot noir vines and starting a new project.
The winds of change are upon us...
With the sudden passing of owner and director, Jenny Hawker, the decision is made that her daughter, Sigrid Bodmin will take over the reigns as General Manager of Pisa Range Estate. Sigrid now manages the business along with her father Warwick and support from her brother Andrew Hawker.
The New Release!
Since the relocation project had begun in 2016, Pisa Range Estate releases its two new wines, Pisa Range Estate Soli Vero Pinot Noir 2018 & Run 245 Pinot Noir 2018. Both wines receive excellent reviews with the Soli Vero winning Gold at the NZ International Wine Show 2019. We couldn't be prouder!

Reviews & Accolades
Candice Chow - Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Pisa Range Estate Soli Vero Pinot Noir 2018
Deep, ruby-red with some transparency, slightly lighter on the rim with a deep purple hue. The bouquet is full and deep with savoury fruit of black cherries, black plums and berries, entwined with thyme herbs, unfolding baking spices and earthy mineral elements. Medium-full bodied, the palate is full with rich flavours of savoury black cherries and plums, enriched by broody dark thyme, earthy minerals and subtle spices. The mouthfeel is opulent, supported by smooth, silky tannin extraction, flow with integrated lacy acidity along an earthy mineral drive. The fruit has richness and concentration, sweet-scented with savoury balance underlying alcohol power lends a long sustained finish. This is an opulent Pinot Noir with flavours of sweet and savoury balanced fruit, along with thyme and spices nuances underlined silky tannin and earthy mineral details. Match with slow-cooked lamb shoulder and tea-smoked duck over the next 8-10 years. 100% Pinot Noir from Bendigo, fermented to 14% alc. Biogro organic certified. Aged in French oak barriques for 9 months, 20% new oak. 19/20 pts Sept 2020

Pisa Range Estate Soli Vero Pinot Noir 2018
Silken smooth, medium-bodied pinot noir with ripe plum, cherry, violet and spicy oak flavours. A supple, attractive wine that's deliciously drinkable now but should develop with bottle age. 14 JAN 2020

Pisa Range Estate Black Poplar Block Pinot Noir (2020)
Estate-grown at Pisa Flats, north of Cromwell, in Central Otago, this classy, enticingly scented wine is well worth discovering. The 2015 vintage (5*) was picked from the oldest vines and matured for a year in French oak barriques (33 per cent new). A fragrant, powerful red, it is deeply coloured. Robust (15 per cent alcohol), it is youthful, fresh, sweet-fruited and concentrated, with very ripe plum, spice and slight liquorice flavours, and good tannin support. Best drinking 2021+. (Note: the 2003 vintage (4.5*), now over 17 years old, was rereleased in 2020 at $113. Estate-grown at Pisa, it was matured for a year in French oak casks (33 per cent new). Mouthfilling, savoury and complex, it has mature, tawny colour, nutty, spicy, slightly herbal flavours and excellent depth. Still drinking well, it certainly demonstrates the potential longevity of the region's reds.)

Pisa Range Estate Run 245 Pinot Noir 2018
Gorgeously fruited and elegantly expressed, the bouquet shows dark plum, spiced cherry, thyme, toasted nut and olive characters. The palate displays lovely weight and rounded mouthfeel, together with fine texture and supple tannins, finishing long and soothing. At its best: now to 2023. RRP: $28.00.
